Thinking about materializing the digital archive, this relief is based on a screenshot from the project Your Hand Is My Hand. The work documents a specific interaction in which the artist's rescue of a hummingbird prompted his father to draw a visual comparison with his own hand. The resulting object serves as a monument to a disconnected gaze; it exposes a relationship in which the father's ability to "see" the son is limited to recognizing his own genetic and physical imprint.
